In February, Norwegian Gem will host the ninth installment of the popular Outlaw Country Cruise. This Sixthman voyage will sail from Miami and stop in Nassau, Bahamas, and St. Thomas.
Captain’s Club
As part of Celebrity's new Always Included fare structure, you'll get unlimited drinks (cocktails, wines by the glass, beer and sodas), unlimited Wi-Fi and daily gratuities included as part of the base fare. You'll pay extra for some premium drinks, extra-charge restaurants, spa services, shore excursions and a few other things — unless you've bought a package for some of these items in advance. Most onboard activities such as theater shows are included in the fare. In addition, passengers staying in spa-focused AquaClass cabins on Celebrity ships have access to an exclusive restaurant with a spa-inspired menu called Blu (there's no per-visit charge; the cost is folded into your AquaClass fare).
Celebrity Ascent
Celebrity is also known for one of the most innovative new cabin types in the cruise industry, the "infinite veranda" cabin. Found only on Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Apex, these are standard size balcony cabins with outward-facing walls that are almost entirely made of glass. Still, while families with younger children usually gravitate to one of the above-mentioned lines with more family-friendly activities, that doesn't mean you can't bring your kids on a Celebrity cruise. The line does offer a relatively robust children's program (more on that below).
Card Issuer
Like the vessels themselves, the line's cabins are well-appointed and elegant, with modern touches that appeal to a slightly younger-than-average cruise demographic. The three Xpedition-class ships that Celebrity Cruises own are all custom-built ships, with Celebrity Xploration previously operating as Athala II for Ocean Adventures. Just two of the Celebrity’s ships were built and owned by other cruise lines before being acquired by Celebrity Cruises. After that, Celebrity created the Solstice-class, which consisted of five ships. These proved extremely popular and Celebrity actually went back and ‘Solsticized’ the rest of their fleet to bring the other ships up to the same passenger experience. The Celebrity Summit does have pools and kids’ clubs, but there’s nothing exciting for kids like water slides or rock-climbing walls.

While the app indicated that the Solarium closed at 10 p.m., it was closed at 9 p.m., and guests who were in the Solarium pool at this time were asked to leave. With the Classic Drinks Package we had purchased, coffee drinks at the cafe were included. This was a great place to both grab a drink on the run or sit in the cafe and enjoy the view. We loved everything on the Oceanview buffet and even chose to dine there one night rather than in the main dining room. We knew that we had a smaller balcony than normal, with an obstructed view.
That puts Celebrity among the smaller of the big lines catering to North Americans. One of its main rivals, Princess, has nearly twice as many berths (45,816), based on double occupancy. The newest group of ships in the line is the Edge Class, consisting of just three vessels that have been unveiled since 2018 — each holding around 3,000 passengers. Don’t sleep on Celebrity’s oldest ship, which includes a handful of fan-favorite amenities and spaces such as The Retreat, the Solarium, the Rooftop Terrace, and the Grand Foyer. Last refurbished in 2019, Millennium now features a more contemporary design aesthetic, similar to what you’d find on the newer ships. Expect stylish spaces galore, including the Sunset and Martini bars, plus a sleek Rooftop Terrace where cruisers can catch outdoor flicks while basking in the ocean views. Celebrity ships are loaded with entertainment and activities that range from Broadway-style theater shows and live music to glassmaking classes. Top decks of Celebrity ships have lots of pools, lounge areas and — on some ships — park-like retreats with real grass. Unlike some big-ship lines, Celebrity isn't topping its vessels with waterslides, go-kart tracks, ropes courses and other family-focused attractions.
